CDC Purge of Health Information and Data

UPDATE, February 1st, 2025

The removal of CDC data is actually far more extensive than what I have shared below. I am currently pulling down data-rich information and PDFs now off-line websites using internet archiving services.

The CDC is a massive website and to try to understand the extent of information removal I searched “HIV” this led to about 650 webpages referenced. In the first page of 10 results, 3 were missing. I looked at several more returned results and it appears that about 20-30% of pages for this topic are missing.

The CDC stacks are still active (link) and I was able to find the research data that was linked to by the websites that are now down.

Researchers and Physicians at this moment can still find primary data and publications on the CDC stacks.

Most of these pages have to do with women’s health, contraception, HIV, and pregnancy health. Please call and write to your congressional representation if you do not agree with this.

MedPage Today just broke the story today (January 31st, 2025) that the CDC is removing webpages with data and health information.

The webpages removed so far contain information about:

• which food is healthy to eat while pregnant

• MPOX vaccines

• HIV/AIDS prevention and safe sex

• Health Disparities Among LGBTQ Youth

… among others.

Considering we have another Clade 1b (more deadly and more contagious MPOX) outbreak in Africa right now, a case was just found in Europe, and the MPOX vaccine was recently show to loose efficacy, we now have an unprotected population now with less information.

The CDC’s web resource library is absolutely massive and serves as resource for nearly every scientist and physician in the United States and beyond.

Sites containing national-level health data are also disappearing including, the National HIV Surveillance System (NHSS).

I have checked with pages I typically use for SARS-CoV-2 and respiratory virus infection information are still online but have not been updated since mid-January.

I’ve now added the PDFs so that you can download them. Below that are some of the pages I left in as an example of some of the information that is disappearing.
